It was a Saturday night to remember as teams Meddlelane and HAI, finalists at this year’s Fayrouz L’Original Expression show dazzled the judges and guests with a runway show of fashion, make-up and photography at the Ballroom of the Lagos Oriental Hotel.

It was the second edition of the show, and the teams were required to create fashion statements to interpret the theme, Enchanted. And although both teams thrilled the audience with glitz and glamour, the jury comprising ace photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, make up expert, Rhema Akabuogu from House of Tara and creative fashion designers, Mai Atafo and Kunbi Oyelese announced Team Meddlelane winner after a keenly contested competition.
Team Meddlelane will now enjoy fashion opportunities including an automatic entry to showcase their designs at the Lagos Design Fashion Week apart from the N4 million grand prize they won while runner up Team Hai who came second place went home with 1.5Million Naira. Both teams also went home with MacBook laptops as well as cameras for each photographer.

While announcing the results, the jury said that the choice of Team Meddlelane as winner was in recognition of the team’s display of originality, creativity and the confidence in interpreting the Enchanted theme in their works. ‘Success in the fashion world is based on how creative you can be and this is the yardstick with which we have been judging the competition from inception. Not just that, the confidence in which you defend your creativity also matters, we have found all of these in Team Meddlelane which is why they are winners of the competition’, Atafo explained.

Spicing up the night with his version of enchantment was popular hip hop artiste Kiss Daniel, who thrilled guests with his hit tracks – Woju and Laye. Performingafter him was Niyola, the EME song star, who thrilled the audience with some of her popular songs like Toh Bad while Kukere crooner, Iyanya, wrapped up the night with some of his old songs. Guests were also treated to delightful mixes of various Fayrouz cocktails including Fayrouz, Martini, Ultimate Lady, Virgin Royalty, Tattoo, Implication and Champagne De Fayrouz and Dirty Fayrouz. The red carpet host for the night was popular celebrity mixologist, Zainab Balogun.
