NB plc commissions Star Academy

Nigerian Breweries, on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 commissioned its ultra-modern staff training and development Centre. The Ultra-modern training Center named after Star, Nigeria’s first beer brand was unveiled at an event attended by members of the board, management and staff of the company.

Speaking at the event, the Human Resource Director, Mr. Victor Famuyibo, under whose division the edifice was built said as a leader in the training and development of its people, the project became necessary to remedy the frequent unsuitability of venues for staff training. Famuyibo said the project was a cost savings initiative for the company. He thanked the Technical Director, Mr. Henk Wymenga for his support in making the project a reality as well as the company’s management for their proactive role in the initiative that designed to enhance the capacity building of its human capital.

The chairman of the company’s board, Chief Kola Jamodu, OFR, expressed delight at the realization of the project and said the use of the Centre will reposition the organization in such a way that both its short term and long term business objectives can be met. Chief Kola Jamodu was assisted in the commissioning of the project by the Heineken regional President for Africa and Middle East, Mr. Siep Hiemstra.

The complex is a world class training facility which houses three theatres and four syndicate rooms. The biggest of the three theatres has a capacity to sit sixty persons while the other two have capacities for twenty persons each. The syndicate rooms which are used for break –out sessions during training have capacity to sit ten persons each. All the training rooms are fitted with state-of –the-art multimedia equipment, furniture and fittings. The complex has internet and Wi-Fi facilities for guests, a synthetic mini golf course.

The Star Academy is the second of such facilities put in place to ensure continuous development of the company’s human capital. The other is the Technical Learning Centre located in Ibadan brewery.
